Christ's Hands and Feet

Valley of Vision Charities is a faith-based charitable outreach with a home base south of Houston, Texas.  The team has been handing out meals and necessities in the southern part of the Houston I-45 corridor since 2025.

We understand, from the words of Jesus, that society can never eradicate poverty, for the poor will always be with us.  We must, however, redeem the time we have here: even though the problem cannot be eradicated, we must follow the example of our Lord and still do acts of compassion to those the rest of society has cast off. This means loving them, listening to them, feeding them, and offering them a hand up to the road of rehabilitation and redemption.

For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;  I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.

Matthew 25:35, 36

Bread of Life

And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
John 6:35

What we do, why we do it:

Feed and Clothe

James 2:15,16: If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

Listen

Romans 12:15: Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

Treat All Well

Hebrews 13:2: Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

Do All From Pure Motives

James 1:27: Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.

VOV OFFERS A HAND UP TO THOSE WHO NEED IT.

And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased;
and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
Matthew 23:12

About Us

For it is a day of trouble, and of treading down, and of perplexity by the Lord God of hosts in the valley of vision, breaking down the walls, and of crying to the mountains.
Isaiah 22:5

Our work, which began in 2025 in Pasadena and the southern parts of the I45 corridor in Houston, TX, consists in being the hands and feet of Christ amongst those Jesus called "the least of these." The streets are too often a place of brokenness, of addiction, of hunger, sometimes of violence, and of shattered dreams. The summers are hot. The bugs bite. Rest is fleeting.

Jesus in His earthly ministry did not spend time lobbying in the halls of the rich and mighty, but with the lowliest of the low -- dirty, smelly fishermen, tax collectors, prostitutes -- what the "betters" of the day considered the very scum of the earth. Yet, if we are honest and look in the mirror, is this not every one of us but for the grace of God?

Our prayer for this work is that the Lord tread down the the walls of hardness of our own hearts, that we be doers of the Word and not hearers only. James, in his blunt and to-the-point style, expresses in his epistle the spirit of our mission on the streets of Houston, Pasadena, and beyond. We must meet people where they are, not where they should be, and offer the light of hope found only in Christ.

Our time on this earth is very short. The harvest is great. The laborers, few.

Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake. Ps. 115:1
